Note (1): An increase of 40% was used for oxygenated water grown shrimp as a conservative estimate. Note (2): Comparatives did not take into account the rise in the price/lb due to more mature and heavier shrimp would be available with the use of oxygenated water. Note (3): Comparatives used the density of 15 shrimp/m3 of water. With oxygenated water the density could be increased by a factor of 1.5-3 times. Note (4): The comparatives did not take into account that with the use of oxygenated water harvest time decreased by 1/3 which would produce an extra harvest every 2.5 to 3.o years. Note (5): The comparatives did not take into account the cost savings in pond preparation that could be achieved by using oxygenated water, such as: fertilizers, medical additives…these savings could be a minimum of $30,000 per harvest. |
